Iron Fist gets a makeover — finally

Marvel Comics just released some images for it’s upcoming book “The Immortal Iron Fist.”

I looked at the samples and said “Thank God!” under my breath.

You see Iron Fist, the Marvel Universe’s premiere martial artist, was created back in the 1970s — and for the last 30 years, he looked like he should have stayed back there.

Because the martial arts phenomenon was new to America back then, artists of the time just copied what martial artists were wearing and then embelished on it a little bit.

What came from that was Iron Fist’s godawful uniform that included “kung fu” slippers, an open-chest shirt and a collar so high you needed mountain-climbing gear to get past.

The new, sleeker Iron Fist, shown above gets rid of all of that except the open shirt, which is kind of needed to show off IF’s fancy dragon tattoo.

Oh well, you can’t have everything. No matter, thanks Marvel, for finally dragging Danny Rand into the new century.
